Chris Horvatits

Chris Horvatits joined the 7 News team in July of 2013.  He was born and raised near Buffalo, in the suburb of Lancaster, NY.

He studied Broadcasting and Mass Communication at SUNY Oswego. There, he got his start in television.

At Oswego, Chris worked with the on-campus television station WTOP (as Asa Stackel's superior). He split his time between sports and news.

On the sports side of things, Chris was the Assistant Sports Director for two years. He spent four years covering the Oswego State Lakers men's hockey team. Incidentally, the team made it to the Final Four in each of the four years he covered them. He was the lead play by play commentator for WTOP's coverage of Lakers hockey for the 2012-2013 season. He also spent some time working with the school's basketball team.

Chris also worked on some of Oswego County's biggest stories over the course of his four years in the area. Most notably, he reported on a controversial plan that would have decreased the size of the Oswego County Legislature. He enjoyed getting a chance to meet and work with the people of Oswego.

In addition to his work in Oswego, Chris also completed an internship at WIVB in Buffalo. He was a contributing writer for "Buffalo Stuff", a Buffalo based blog. A huge sports fan, Chris is a lifelong Bills, Sabres, and Red Sox supporter. He enjoys playing football, soccer, basketball, hockey, running, golfing, and playing any other sport that you can come up with.

Chris is very excited to join the North Country. Feel free to follow him on twitter (@chrishorvatits) or email him at if you want to share a story.
