A graduate of Massena Central High School, Joe LaPlante is a north country native.

Joe first became interested in the world of weather at a young age - watching the Weather Channel and dreaming of one day chasing hurricanes.

Joe's interest in weather led him to become a Meteorology major at SUNY Oswego.

Joe received his bachelor's degree in Meteorology in 2007.

After college, Joe joined the 7 News team as an intern, working with and learning from former 7 News meteorologist Rick DeFranco.

Shortly after that, Joe was offered a job in production at the station and fills in for weathercasters Beth Hall and John Kubis.

Joe is currently the weekend meteorologist, still holds the production position and stumps Mel Busler with Sports Trivia.

In his free time, Joe enjoys spending time with friends and watching his favorite teams, the Washington Nationals and the Syracuse Orange.
