JCHS - The Saxon is Coming!
Date(s) & Time(s)::
May 18, 2012
Location: Jefferson County Historical Society
The 1914 Saxon automobile will be ready to run soon. Rick Mentry, President of Highway Legends Car, Truck and Motorcycle Club and members Don Sholett, Bill Bartram, Bob Lowrey, Ed Hurley, Dan Busto and Mike Mitchell of P&M Construction spent many hours, including this past Saturday afternoon, volunteering their time inspecting, diagnosing, researching, shopping and making repairs. Highway Legends has also offered to raise the funds needed to pay for all the parts needed to bring the Jefferson County Historical Society’s Saxon back to life. Rick Mentry noted that some donations are already being offered, including hard to locate bearings from P & T Supply and Services in Watertown. The Legends team is on target to have the Saxon running for its parade debut on May 18th, the opening day of the “2nd Annual Two Nations 1000 Islands Extravaganza” at the Clayton Arena. It will be the first time running in 15 years. For more information you can contact the Jefferson County Historical Society at 782-3491.Return to event list.
