This is Greg’s Story: Greg Maur was born and raised in Watertown, NY. He attended Watertown schools and enjoyed playing football and lacrosse. He was a loving son and a best friend to many.
After high school, Greg attended SUNY Canton and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business. Greg decided to follow in his Father’s footsteps and become an Electrician. He worked for different Electrical Companies, ending with Lawman Heating & Cooling Inc. He was passionate about his job and enjoyed the people he worked with. Greg was also a member of the IBEW Local Union 910. Greg’s true passion was hunting and fishing. He loved spending time at his camp & in the woods. He looked forward to his annual fishing trip in Canada with his friends. Greg’s battle with melanoma began in 2001 after having a suspicious mole removed and analyzed. The mole was diagnosed as melanoma and extra tissue around the area was removed as a precaution. The prognosis was good as the melanoma was thought to have held close to the surface of the skin to be contained from spreading. However, after 4½ years of regular rechecks, the melanoma had returned and progressed beyond the original area. Greg endured a long process of aggressive treatments to further fight this terrible disease. Greg was in and out of some of the top clinical trial and treatment centers in the United States, however, resulting in little to no positive outcome.
In October 2006, at the young age of 39, Greg lost his battle with melanoma.
