Event Description

A cup of coffee, a hot dog, or a sweet treat may sound like ordinary every day items to most, but to our troops and their families, they are the comforts of home. The USO Fort Drum, our military’s home-away-from-home, needs your help to provide these simple touches of home to our troops.

The USO will be holding a Stuff-A-Truck event at Sam’s Club (21341 Sam’s Drive), Watertown, NY on May 6th, 2012 from 10am – 4pm. Civic groups, clubs and organizations, and individuals are encouraged to buy or bring an item from the USO’s “wish list” to help support the troops.

The USO Fort Drum is home to more troops than ever in 2012, and filling up a truck is a great way for the community to show support. The USO provides troops with a beautiful 6,000 square foot recreation center on Fort Drum with free internet, WiFi, gaming, phone calls, and food, and is home to over 5,000 troops and their families each month.

“It’s emotional when the Soldiers step off the aircraft and onto US soil for the first time in nearly a year,” said Center Director Karen Clark. “Filling up our truck with these ordinary, every day comfort items tells our Soldiers, as a community, welcome home.”

Monetary donations can be mailed to: USO Fort Drum, PO Box 454, Fort Drum, NY 13602.
