Event Description

The Croghan Lions Club is pleased to announce that Mrs. Dorrie Boliver and Mr. Jake LeDoux have been chosen as the 2012 Croghan Lion’s Citizens of the Year.

Jake, the son of Stephen and Michelle LeDoux, is completing his sophomore year at Beaver River Central School. Jake is being recognized for his enthusiasm in all of his actions and endeavors. He willingly takes on tasks before being asked, volunteers for many organizations and encourages his peers to do the same. He has been elected to the Order of the Arrow by his fellow Boy Scouts and is working towards his Eagle Badge. Jake is also active on the family farm as well as taking on many leadership activities in FFA, the community and school.

Dorrie and husband Bruce reside off Route 812 beside the Beaver River. Her nominators note her work within the community beginning as a teenager and continuing through the present: Church, National Honor Society, teaching, chaperoning, Relay for Life Teams, DKG Society for Women Educators, Croghan Food Pantry, Lion’s spaghetti suppers, Domestic Violence Hotline and many other leadership roles. If it needs to be done, Dorrie will see that it gets done.

If you wish to help honor these two fine citizens please make reservations to attend the Croghan Lions “Jim Scanlon Citizens of the Year Awards Banquet” at the Beaver River Memorial Post #1663 of the Croghan American Legion on Saturday, June 23, 2012. The social hour will begin at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. with presentations to follow. Reservations can be made by calling club secretary, Marian Opela at 376-8639 or e-mailing club committee chair, Pat Ford at psawdust@frontiernet.net prior to June 14th. The cost of the dinner is $15.00.

All family, friends and community members are invited to attend to help honor Doris and Jake. Impromptu remarks will be welcomed from anyone who wishes to ROAR and we are looking forward to a fun as well as an inspirational evening!
