“History on the Water – Awards of Distinction Dinner”

The Jefferson County Historical Society will hold its 1st Annual Awards of Distinction Dinner on Saturday, August 25th, honoring six individuals or organizations who have greatly benefited the collection, preservation or presentation of North Country history. The evening is named “History on the Water” in honor of the historic 1905 Crescent Yacht Club in Chaumont where it will be held.

The awards and recipients are:
The T. Urling Walker Award of Distinction – John B. Johnson
The Robert R. Sturtz Award of Distinction - Neighbors of Watertown
The Historical Society Award of Distinction - Sackets Harbor Battlefield Alliance
The Babcock Society Award of Distinction - Highway Legends Car, Truck & Motorcycle Club
The Historical Society Heritage Preservation Award – North Country Goes Green
The Olive Paddock Preservation Leadership Award – Mrs. Maria Roche

The awards recognize leadership contributions by individuals, businesses, organizations, historical societies or history focused boards. Their work has preserved and enabled public enjoyment of local cultural heritage and historic treasures including the 1910 Babcock & 1914 Saxon automobiles, The Franklin Building, the battles of The War of 1812 and thousands more.

The event will begin at 5:30pm with a cash bar to benefit the Crescent Yacht Club, followed by awards at 6:30pm and dinner will be served at 7:00pm. Dinner plans include lobster bisque, stuffed pork tenderloin, glazed sweet potatoes, asparagus, salad and an assortment of desserts.

Proceeds for tickets will benefit the Jefferson County Historical Society. Prices are $40 per person or $75 per couple.
