Taking Care of Our Own Proudly Announces Our 4th Annual Benefit Day

"Taking Care of Our Own" is currently preparing for its 4th Annual Benefit Day scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013. This year the event will be hosted at the Glenfield Fire Department, while each following year the benefit day will be held at various locations throughout Lewis County.

To date, this not-for-profit organization has allocated over $15,000 to residents of Lewis County and is continually raising money to assist these people in their time of need as a result of an unfortunate disaster or major medical condition. All proceeds delegated by "Taking Care of Our Own" remain in Lewis County. The upcoming benefit is scheduled to feature a 5K Run/Walk, Motorcycle Ride, Drive it Yourself Poker Run, Antique Tractor, Classic Car and Truck Show, American Red Cross Blood Mobile is having a Blood Drive, Double Play Sports is offering Kite Building & Zumbatomic, Adirondack Trail Blazers Baseball Team is offering a Free Baseball Clinic, PBS will have one of their characters on hand doing a story hour and other activites with Brantingham-Greig Reading Center, Cake Walk, crafters, vendors and a spaghetti dinner by 3G Fire Department.

Registration for the 5k Run/Walk sponsored by Toe Path Trekkers and the Motorcycle Ride/ Poker Run organized by Lewis County ABATE will be from 7:00 am to 9:30 am. The 5k foot race will begin at 8am at the Glenfield Fire Hall. A blessing of the bikes will be at 9:45 am, just before all kickstands go up at 10 am. The ride will begin at the Glenfield Fire Hall and then go throughout Lewis County and then return back to the Glenfield Fire Hall.

There is a $25.00 registration fee to participate in the Run, Motorcycle Ride and/or Drive it Yourself Poker Run. This fee includes entertainment throughout the day including Burglars in the evening, an event t-shirt, and $5.00 on-site food voucher. Those participants without motorcycles are also encouraged to join the ride by following along in their vehicle for the same fee. Registrations forms will be available the day of the event, as well as online at www.LCTakingCareOfOurOwn.com. Also find us on Facebook, at Taking Care of Our Own.

Food and Drinks will be available as well as games and raffles all day. Crafters and vendors will be available from 10am-4 pm. Reality Check will be there throughout the day and live entertainment by "Burglars" from 8pm-12 am. There will be a $5.00 admission fee for Burglars unless you participate in the ride or run.
