Summer 2013
Sponsored by the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site
No previous experience is necessary to enjoy seeing our summer birds! Join early morning walks to view birds in their habitats at the Battlefield in Sackets Harbor. Gather at 7:30 a.m. SHARP in the Picnic Pavilion near the Battlefield parking lot on Hill St., Sackets Harbor.

Wednesday, June 26
Our season opener starts at the Battlefield
and then we’ll visit a few sites close to the village for songbirds.

Saturday, July 20
Special Can-Am Weekend Walk, begins at the Battlefield
and we’ll enjoy the new Bicentennial Trail sites around the village.

Saturday, August 24
Gather at the Battlefield and then team up with the
North Country Bird Club for a trip to Perch River…we hope to see
Osprey, Bald Eagles, and the early migratories heading South.

Saturday, September 7
We’ll visit the Battlefield thickets for the last of the songbirds,
and then take a field trip with our friends from the North Country Bird Club to El Dorado’s boardwalks and beach platform for ducks and shorebirds.

What should I bring? Wear your comfortable shoes! Bring a hat, water, binoculars, a pencil, sunscreen and bug spray, and if you have one, a field guide. We provide a journal to record sightings throughout the season.

What’s the timeframe? Plan on about 2 hours…7:30 to 9:30 a.m, unless otherwise announced. We start at the Battlefield’s gravel paths through the thickets, then visit selected sites of
interest in the surrounding community. You never know what you’ll see!
