Clayton, New York – The Towns of Clayton, Orleans and Lyme, in the Thousand Islands Region of Jefferson County, will host a public meeting on Thursday May 22nd, 2014 at 6:00 pm on the Third Floor of the Clayton Opera House located at 405 Riverside Drive Clayton, New York. Community members of the Thousand Islands region, especially those in the Hamlets of Depauville and LaFargeville, and the Village of Chaumont, are encouraged to attend and share their vision for the Chaumont River corridor.Return to event list.
The aforementioned Towns are in the process of developing a comprehensive regional strategy for revitalization of the Chaumont River Corridor stretching from the Hamlet of LaFargeville through Chaumont Bay. The creation of the regional strategy for revitalization within the area will become the foundation for future economic and community development.
The “open house” meeting format will include information on the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) to include the process, its development, a map display of the region and the opportunity to meet the current committee. Meeting participants from the community will be asked to provide comment on how the corridor’s waterfront should be developed and preserved along with their views on public access and recreation, resource protection and economic development.
