Event Description

Dedication of two historic markers celebrates history in Sackets Harbor on Saturday May 24 at 1pm on the state historic site property.

Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site will once again help visitors learn about the role the community played in the War of 1812. Thanks to the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, two replacement cast-iron plaques mark the location of Fort Tompkins and Fort Kentucky.

Discover the role 1812 Marines played at Sackets Harbor with the 1812 Marine Guard living history demonstrations from 10am to 3pm at the Main Street entrance to the Battlefield site, with cannon firing between 2pm and 2:30pm. See authentic War of 1812 small arms and weapons on display at the Lieutenant’s House gallery; open Saturday and Memorial Day 10am to 5pm, plus Sunday 1-5pm.
