Sherry J. (White) Leclerc, 69, of PotsdamPotsdam – Mrs. Sherry J. (White) Leclerc, 69, of 20 Cedar Street, passed away Monday afternoon, January 21, 2013 at her home where she was under the loving care of her family and Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. Sherry was born September 11, 1943, in Potsdam, the daughter of the late Robert E. Sr. and Winona Carpenter White. She attended schools in St. Regis Falls. On October 12, 1962, she married Robert J. Leclerc, Sr. in Malone; the marriage later ended in divorce. Sherry was the owner and operator of Potsdam Answering Service. She began working there in 1986 with the previous owners, John and Kay Colish, before buying the business in 1990. It was with her business that she forged many “telephone friendships” that she truly treasured. She also worked as a waitress and bartender at the Crossroads in Moira for a short time. Sherry enjoyed crafting, painting, flower gardening, home decorating, and New Year’s Eve parties with her grandchildren. Her greatest passion was her business and the dedication she gave to it, even as her illness advanced. Sherry is survived by her children, Vicki and Jim Rogers of Hermon; Rob Jr. and Roxanne Leclerc of Malone; her grandsons, Jerrid, Corey, Phillip and Laura Lavoie, all of Potsdam; T.J, Chad, and Chris Leclerc, all of Malone, her granddaughter, Brittany and Max Fye of Dickinson Center; and her great grandchildren, Bailey, Rayah, Kole, and Brynn Leclerc. She is also survived by her sisters, Vonnie Reil of Massena; Nancy and Wayne Green of Potsdam; and her brother Robert Jr. and Trudy White of Potsdam; her aunt, Iona Ames of Norwood; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sherry was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Margaret L. Matheny on May 17, 2007 and Diane M. Phippen on February 16, 2012. Friends are invited to celebrate her life and share memories with the family on Saturday 1-4 PM at the Seymour Funeral Home, 4 Cedar Street, Potsdam, with a short service being held at 4:00 PM. Burial of her cremated remains will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Potsdam in the spring. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Highway 11, Potsdam, NY 13676. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam; Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton; and the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where condolences and memories may be shared online at www.donaldsonfh.com. |
