A.J. “Stub” Gushlaw, 77, of Clayton
Clayton - The funeral for Mr. A.J. “Stub” Gushlaw, age 77, will be Thursday, October 17, 11 am at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 16, 2-4 and 6-8pm.
A burial will be in St. Lawrence Corners Cemetery following the service.
A reception will be held following the service at the Clayton Fire Department.
Mr. Gushlaw died Sunday at his home after a long illness.
Stub was born May 11, 1936, in North Bangor NY, the son of Hermon and Marjorie Trim Gushlaw. He attended Clayton Central School.
On October 2, 1954, he married the former Jean Timmerman with Reverend Wright officiating.
Stub worked for a time at the Bathing Suit Factory in Clayton, then for 18 years at Borden’s Dairy, then until his retirement he worked at Cape Vincent Correctional Facility.
He was a former member of the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department.
Stub loved working with wood and participating in craft shows. He also really enjoyed going camping.
Surviving besides his wife Jean are two sons, Clifford (Shawna) Gushlaw and Michael (Cassie), both of Clayton; two daughters, Cynthia (Chuck) Youngs of Clayton and Julie Hyde and her companion Dale Morrow of LaFargeville; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle (Albert) Allard of Massachusetts; four brothers, Butch (Shirley), Biff (Linda), Hermy (Patty) all of Clayton, and Rudy (Louise) of Massachusetts; nieces and nephews.
One sister, Mrs. Alvira (John) Murdock, one grandson, and one great-great-granddaughter died before him.
