Alice Brimmer Eastman, 102, of NYS Rte. 193, passed away Friday evening, June 14th, at the Carthage Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, Carthage, NY.

Born September 6, 1910 at the family home in Belleville, NY, the daughter of Cassius J. and Inez Howland Brimmer, she was a 1930 graduate of the Union Academy of Belleville.  In the fall of 1930 she attended nursing school in Syracuse, NY.

Alice married Gerald M. Eastman on May 8, 1932 in Plessis, NY at the Methodist parsonage. They began dairy farming at Winding Brook Holstein Farm, west of Ellisburg on Route 193 on March 1, 1933. He passed away on December 14, 1975.

Her activities throughout her life were in the Belleville and Ellisburg United Methodist Churches, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School; the Belleville Union Grange #5, holding several Subordinate and State offices in Grange; and leading the Ellisburg-Woodville Prayer and Share, which she started in her farm home.

Surviving are her two sons, both of Ellisburg, William G. and his wife, Donna; and John B. and his wife, Pat; her sister, Ella B. Ainsworth of Belleville; two sisters-in-law, Doris Brown of Belleville and Fran Eastman of Schenectady; a brother-in-law, Howard Brown of Belleville; 15 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Alice was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Gerald, and her two brothers, Vincent and Houghton Brimmer.  She had made arrangements for her body to be donated to University Hospital in Syracuse for their medical school.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 1:30PM at the Ellisburg United Methodist Church. Following the service, there will be light refreshments and a time for Alice’s family and friends to reminisce and celebrate her life.

Memorial contributions, in her honor, may be sent to the Ellisburg United Methodist Church, PO Box 1, Ellisburg, NY 13636 in lieu of flowers.
