Annie David, 100, of Cornwall Island
Akwesasne – Mrs. Annie David, 100, a longtime resident of the Tsiionkwanonhso:te, Cornwall Island Long Term Care Facility, passed away Sunday evening, March 17, 2013 at the nursing home.
Annie was born February 27, 1913 on Cornwall Island, the daughter of the late Thomas and Christie Mitchell Jacobs. She attended convent schools in Hogansburg. On May 28, 1922, she married Andrew David at St. Regis Catholic Church.
Annie was a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her children. She once worked on Stanley Island and at the Cotton Mill in Cornwall. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, making baskets, canning, knitting, and gardening. She was a longtime communicant of the St. Regis Catholic Church.
Annie is survived by her two children, Thomas and Cecelia David of Cornwall Island; and Camilla Carney of Syracuse; many grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Lillian Square on December 31, 1988; two sons, Henry David on December 10, 1988 and Alex A. David on March 19, 2011; 3 grandsons, Paul David on July 23, 1984, Philip David on July 13, 1986, and Thomas Michael Benedict on June 25, 2006; and a granddaughter, Priscilla M. David on March 16, 1967.
She was also predeceased by her siblings, Bertha Sawatis, Agnes Leaf, Marion Lazore, Margaret White, Peter and Mary Jocko, Matthew Alex Jacobs, and Lawrence Jacobs.
Friends may call Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 AM at the St. Regis Catholic Church, with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating. Cremation will follow.
