Barbara Tripp Brown, 92, of Canton
Canton - Barbara Tripp Brown, 92, of Brewer Road, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton with Rev. Michael P. Catanzaro officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton.
Barbara was born February 27, 1921, in Carthage, NY, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Wilma (Chaufty) Tripp. She graduated from West Carthage High School and then Canton A.T.I. with a degree in Nutrition.
On April 12, 1946, she married, the late, Clisson E. Brown, Jr. at the United Christian Church in West Carthage. Prior to marriage she worked as a telephone operator.
Barbara was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Canton where she was a member of the Post Script Club and singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau, the Canton Garden Club and she was active with the Canton College Alumni.
She will be remembered by her loving children, Mark & Nancy Brown, Canton, Lee & Debbie Brown of Camillus, Margery B. & Thomas James, Canton and Lisa W. & David Seeley of Hiram, ME; one sister, Mary Jane & husband Douglas Jones of Fairport, NY; two brothers-in-law, Roger Gibbs of Concord, NH and Bill Smith of Canton; sister-in-law, Mary Rexford of Canton; seven grandchildren, Mark, Brown Jr. & wife Tracy, Rob Brown, Jessica Stumper & husband Brian, Melissa Brown, Matthew Brown, Jennifer Seeley & fiance Brian Cobbett and Andrew Seeley; and great-grandchildren, Ian Brown, Benjamin Stumper and Julia Seeley.
She was predeceased by her husband Clisson (2006) and a sister, Marjorie Gibbs.
Barbara will be remembered for her beautiful flower garden, especially her roses; her travels with her husband, Clisson, to Hawaii, Europe and Alaska; her delicious apple pies; her beloved kitties and the love for her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to First Presbyterian Church of Canton or the Potsdam Humane Society.
