Carl H. Fenton, 80, of Glenfield


Glenfield – Carl H. Fenton, 80, of Otter Creek Road, died Monday afternoon, October 28, 2013, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where he has resided since July 2011.

The funeral will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Billie Jean Melton, Pastor of Glenfield United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in Beaches Bridge Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Freeman of Turin; a son, Ken Fenton of Glenfield; two grandsons and two granddaughters;  three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lila Altmire of Croghan, Joyce and William Billhardt of Glenfield; a sister-in-law, Corinne Fenton of Glenfield; several  nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by two daughters, Kathy, who died in February 2011 and Kim, who died in August 1980; a brother, Nelson Fenton; a great-grandson, Joey Shinnick.     

Mr. Fenton was born at home in the Town of Greig, NY on April 8, 1933, a son of the late Earl and Julianna Nagy Fenton. He attended General Martin High School before serving in the U.S. Army, and earning his general equivalency diploma.

On April 18, 1953, he married Audrey M. Roy in Martinsburg, with Rev. Martin Wicks officiating.

Mr. Fenton worked as a logger, truck driver, and large equipment operator at Kraft Foods in Lowville, before retiring from South Lewis Central School. He operated a gun shop from his home for more than 30 years.

Mr. Fenton was a member of Glenfield United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Glen-Greig Fish and Game Club and the Beaver River Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, camping, trap shooting and weekend safaris with family.
