Christopher Scott Getman, 28, of Felts Mills
FELTS MILLS, N.Y. - Christopher Scott Getman, 28, died, Monday August 18, after being involved in an industrial accident at New York Air Brake.
He was born January 29, 1986 in Gloversville, NY to Dayton A. and Margaret C. Warehime Getman. He graduated from Carthage High School in 2004. He married LaTesha M. LaMay on June 18, 2011.
Surviving are his wife, LaTesha, a step-daughter Chassady Turck, 11; two daughters, Nevaeh Getman, 4; Adrianna Getman, 2; and a son, Colton Getman, 1; his sister, Katelyn Getman Weaver, her husband, Michael Weaver, a nephew, Owyn Weaver; his paternal grandparents, Dayton and Bessie L. Getman of St. Johnsville; sister in law, Amanda LaMay and fiancé, Jason Turck of Carthage; sister-in-law, Heather LaMay and her fiancé, Matthew Hurst, brother-in-law, Ryan Intorcia; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Christopher, known to many as, “Moose”, worked in several construction jobs after high school. He first began with, Mr. Grant Construction, and for Ken Tibbles Roofing with Stan Tibbles. He currently worked for P&M Construction at 759 Starbuck Ave., just down the road from the Air Brake plant, where P&M was contracted to do work.
He was a loving husband and father, he loved spending time with his children, and taking them to the park and having them help with work around the house.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved all sports including Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey and NASCAR. It was often said that Christopher should pursue a career in announcing because he would call the sports from our living room and take the words right from what the announcer would soon speak, as if the television was echoing him.
He was predeceased by his brother, Gregory A. Getman, who died in 2002, his maternal grandparents, Joyce (Hayes) and Ralph Warehime, great grandparents, Elizabeth and Howard Smith, and Clarice and John Getman.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., Located at 500 State Street in Carthage, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:00am at the St. James Catholic Church in Carthage. Burial will be held in the Fical Cemetery at 2:00pm in St. Johnsville, New York.
