Mr. Clark J. Dano, age 84, of James Street died Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 1-4 pm at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 4pm. A reception will be held at the Clayton Fire Department after the funeral.

Clark was born October 17th, 1928, in Clayton, the son of Clark and Myrtle Shaw Dano. He graduated from Clayton Central School.

On August 19th, 1950, he married the former Elizabeth Reynolds at Clayton United Methodist Church with the Reverend Salomon Card officiating.

Clark worked for a time at Electravert and Kraft Foods of Clayton. He retired in 1991 after 23 years as a Pressman at Graphic Controls in Clayton.

He was a life member of the Northern New York and New York State Volunteer Firemans Parade and Drill Team Captains Association. Clark was a 51 year member of the Clayton Fire Department and a former Chief of the department. Also, he was a member of the Jefferson County Fire Police Association, a member of the Masons and a former member of the Clayton Village Board.

He enjoyed mowing his lawn, gardening and the company of his family.

Surviving is his wife Liz; two daughters and their husbands, Katherine (David) Rounds of North Carolina and Donna (David) Malinowski of Chaumont; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

One brother, Ellsworth, and one sister, Alvera Schleher, died before him.

Donations may be made in his name to the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department or to the local chapter of the American Heart Association.
