Massena - David E. Fish, 59, of parker Ave Massena, passed away early Saturday morning in Syracuse surrounded by his family.

David was born in Massena on November 26, 1954 to Daniel and Lorraine (Bissonnette) Fish. After graduating from Holy Family, David began work at Alcoa where he retired after nearly 38 years as a maintenance mechanic in 2010. And during that time, David met and soon married the love of his life, Mary Kay Chase on March 25, 1972 at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Paul J. Priester officiating. With the love of his life, came the beginning of their family.

David is survived by his wife of 42 years Mary Kay, their daughter Monica and husband Bill O’Brien of Massena; and son Marc and wife Julie of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving David are “His Girls”, five grandchildren; Hannah, Emma, Olivia, Mary and Lauren, along with a brother Jim Fish and his wife Mary Margaret and mother Lorraine Fish of Massena.  In addition to his immediate family, David was also survived by his wonderful brothers and sisters in-law’s; Susan and Don Noel from Carpentersville, IL; Ellen and Jeff Gaebel from Deferiet, NY; Carolyn and Basil Congro from Sandwich, MA and Tyler Chase from Massena, NY; along with  several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his father Daniel.

David was very involved in his children’s early sports career. Whether it was along the sidelines coaching for Massena Little League or Massena Minor Hockey, or even cheering from the stands, his enthusiasm for the game far reached that of just his family. An avid golfer and self-taught woodworker, David marveled in the designs of Colonial furniture and strived for the best while fabricating original pieces of furniture for his family and friends.  David’s craftsmanship was developed over his lifetime, having the ability to create one of a kind piece from mere photos.

Friends and family are welcome to call the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena Wednesday June 18, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 12:00 P.M. at the Church of The Sacred Heart, Thursday June 19, 2014 with Rev. Donald J. Manfred officiating.
