Domenic "Dick" Pangallo, 99, of Three Mile Bay
Domenic "Dick" Pangallo, 99, Three Mile Bay, formerly of 902 Emmett St., Watertown, passed away at his home on Thursday morning, July 31, 2014.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Sunday, August 3, from 3 - 6PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Monday, August 4, at 9:15AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at St. Anthony's Church at 10AM with Rev. Donald Robinson, pastor and Rev. Pierre Aubin, MSC concelebrating. Entombment will follow at Glenwood Mausoleum.
Mr. Pangallo was born in Watertown on April 15, 2015, son of Rocco and Josephine Castro Pangallo and he attended Watertown schools. He married Philomena L. Frattali on October 11, 1939 at St. Anthony's Church with Fr. Claude Sechi officiating. Mrs. Pangallo, a parochial school teacher at St. Anthony's School, died October 31, 2008.
He was a self-employed fruit and produce distributor, selling to various institutions throughout the North Country. In later years he was employed by A. E. Galster Co., Watertown as an institutional grocery salesman.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, a former member of the Holy Name Society, a member of Watertown Knights of Columbus Council 259 and Bishop Conroy General Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Dick was a life member of Elks Lodge 496 and a former member of the Italian American Club.
Domenic had many enjoyments, including traveling to Western Europe, round and square dancing, gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles. One of his greatest enjoyments was his children and their families. He loved to play cards and taught his grandchildren and great grandchildren the Italian card game, Briscola.
He is survived by his four children, Catherine M. Poniatowski, Camillus, Rocco J. and wife, Karen B., Annapolis, MD, Clement D. and wife, Michelle M., Washington, DC, and Phyllis Pangallo-Scott and husband, Herbert L. Scott, Three Mile Bay; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Garris Pangallo, CT; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, including Virginia and Charles Burdick and their family.
Besides his wife, Philomena, he was predeceased by his son, Gerard, December 24, 2009, brother, Joseph, and two sisters, Catherine Pangallo and Fortunata "Frances" Puccia.
