Donald T. Scee, 81 of Watertown

Calling hours for Donald T. Scee are Tuesday, May 22nd from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown.  Graveside services will be 11 am Wednesday, May 23rd in the Dexter Cemetery with military honors.  Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County.

Mr. Scee, 81, a lifelong resident of Dexter, passed away Saturday May 19th at Angel's Inn, Pine St., Watertown where he had resided since August of 2011.

He was born in Watertown, October 24, 1930, a son of William Ross and Frances Cousins Scee.  He was educated in Sackets Harbor schools.  Donald served with the US Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953.  He returned to the Watertown area and worked for Standard Auto.
He later owned and operated W & S  Auto Machine Shop on Factory St., Watertown, for many years, building stock car engines to be raced in Southern Canada, the Watertown area tracks and at Watkins Glen race track.  He retired in 1976.

Mr. Scee was a 50 year member of the Dexter Fire Department, a charter member of the Dexter Citizens Committee, the Dexter Little Angels Snowmobile Club and the Jefferson Co. Radio Amateur Ham Radio Club.  He enjoyed building and repairing computers.  He enjoyed old time country music and helped to organize country music jam sessions Tuesday night jam sessions at the Dexter Fire Hall.

Donald married Shirley Thompson. During their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Scee helped to raise 42 foster children over a ten year period.  She passed away December 19, 2000 after almost 50 years of marriage.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and John King, Medway, MA; Cindy and Robert Lamoreaux, Rodman.  A son and his wife, Don and Angie Scee, San Antonio, TX.  Six grandchildren, Michelle Ayers, Kim Konowitz, Jonathon King, Erica Lamoreaux, Megan Anderson and Brittany Scee.  Four great grandchildren.  Two brothers, Monty Scee, Dexter; Doug (Jo) Scee, Theresa.  Two sisters, Carol Dumas and Helen Kizzer, both of Dexter.  Many nieces and nephews.  A brother William Scee, predeceased him.
