Funeral service for Doris E. Cota, 62, of Hermon, will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:00AM at the Canton United Methodist Church on Court Street.

Doris died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, with her family by her side.

Friends may call on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the O’Leary Funeral Home, US Hwy 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hope Lodge, 237 East Ave;  Burlington, VT 05401.

Surviving Doris is her husband of 44 years, Richard I. Cota; two daughters, Heather Bowman and husband Tim of Gouverneur and Amy Olsen and husband Mark of Johnson City, NY; four grandchildren, Timothy and Tyler Bowman and Sara and Matthew Olsen. Also surviving are two brothers, Terry and Robert Ladison; four sisters, Sharline Fregoe and husband Deveron of Mississippi; Lisa Mitchell and husband Greg of CT; Dawn Young and husband Dennis of Madrid and Laurie Briere and husband Richard of Syracuse and an aunt Betty Lindsey of Madrid.
She is predeceased by brothers, George and Lee Michael Ladison.

Doris was born August 4, 1951 in Canton, the daughter of the late Elmer and Laura (Lindsey) Ladison. She graduated from Canton High School and Canton ATC. On March 7, 1970, she married Richard I. Cota at the Grace Episcopal Church in Canton, with Rev. Curtis Denny, officiating.

Doris was a member of the Canton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Pyrites Fire Ladies Auxiliary, Russell Senior Citizens Club, St. Lawrence County Democratic Party and proud member of the FFA Alumni. Doris volunteered at the Canton Methodist Church Freewill Dinners, the Grace Episcopal Soup Kitchen and she helped put together care packages for the soldiers.
