Doris K. Turner Brown Beach, 84, of Sackets Harbor

Doris K. Turner Brown Beach of Sackets Harbor, NY passed away at home in the loving care of her family and longtime family friend, Mary Corboy, on Monday, January 21.

She was born on June 21, 1928, the longest day of the year (her mother always said), to Frank Turner and Ethel Dawley in Orwell, NY.  She grew up in Bennets Bridges and began school in the Powerhouse District. She was a member of the Pulaski Academy class of 1945 and Oswego Teacher's College class of 1948.

Doris was a kindergarten teacher, first in Holland Patten for 4 years, and then in Sackets Harbor where she retired in 1981. She was a member of The United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor where she served for several years as a Deacon.

Doris was a great lover of music and often played the piano for friends and family in her home.  She was an avid sports fan, and began every day with a cup of coffee in one hand and the WDT sports line-up in the other. She saved everything, and forgot nothing. Her sense of humor kept her family and friends smiling through out the years.

She married David Brown in 1951; the marriage ended in divorce. In 1971 she married Milton Beach, who passed away in 1997.

She is predeceased  by five siblings: Charlotte, Robert, William, and Frances Turner, and Janet Stamps; and one grandchild: Michael Jenkins.

She is survived by seven children: George Brown of Kenai, Alaska; Jo Ellen Johnson and her husband Michael of Chugiak, Alaska; Stephanie Cring and her husband Harold of Sackets Harbor, NY;  David Brown and his wife Dawn of Chamount, NY; John Brown and his wife Michele of San Diego, California; Deborah Wiley and her husband Donald of Sackets Harbor, NY; and Dana Beach and his wife Sandra of Watertown, NY; 20 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 9 at 1pm at The United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor, reception to follow.   Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to The Sackets Harbor Ambulance Fund, The United Presbyterian Church of Sackets Harbor, or St. Andrews Food Pantry of Sackets Harbor.
