Dorothy V. (Dottie) LeFevre, 92, of Watertown
The funeral for Dorothy V. LeFevre will be 11 am Monday, July 29th at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Garry, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday, July 28 from 6 pm - 9 pm at the funeral home, where members of the Watertown Eagles will conduct their memorial service at 7 pm and American Legion Post 61 will conduct their service Sunday at 8 pm.
Contributions may be made to the Heart Association, the Watertown Eagles Auxillary or to the First Presbyterian Church.
She was born April 7, 1922 in Lancaster, PA, a daughter of Daniel and Mildred Towson Vollrath. Dorothy married U. Grant LeFevre September 5, 1941 in Leesburg, VA. Dorothy was the church secretary at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Watertown for many years.
She was a member of the Welcome Wagon shortly after arriving in Watertown in 1957. She was also a member of the YWCA Board beginning in the 1960s, serving on multiple committees and was also president of the board.
Dorothy served as a instructor and instructor trainer for the Red Cross and American Heart Center, teaching C.P.R., from the late 1950's thru 1995. She also worked in the blood program, and ran the First Aide Station at the Jefferson County Fair.
She was the Secretary of the Legion Post 61 Auxiliary, and was very active in the First Presbyterian Church serving as a teacher, Sunday school supervisor and Deacon. She also served as secretary at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in the 1980s.
Mrs. LeFevre was the recipient of the Shapiro Award in 1981. She was the third woman to ever win that award.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, U. Grant, Jr. (Bud), Arkansas and Robert H. (Pam), Sr., Watertown; a daughter, Bonnie Kay (Charles) Patrick, Watertown; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister Betty Ann Vollrath, Watertown; one niece.
A brother, Robert, predeceased her.
