CORNWALL/MASSENA – Mr. Edward A. Patnode, 75, of Tenth Street East, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 27, 2012 at Massena Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted on Friday.
 
Ed was born March 25, 1937 in Massena, the son of the late Edward P. and Leda Borgoyne Patnode.  He attended Sacred Heart School and later achieved his GED.  On April 1, 1954, he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served as an Airman Second Class until his honorable discharge on November 7, 1957.
 
Ed worked as an overhead crane operator at Reynold’s Metals for 37 years, retiring in 1996.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping.
 
Ed was a loving husband to his wife of 37 years, Joan, who survives; dear father of his sons, Bob and April Patnode of Baldwinsville; Danny Patnode of Ogdenburg; and Joby Patnode of Massena; beloved dad of Terry-Lynn and Bob Billings and Tom and Ann Wilson, all of Cornwall; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
 
He is also survived by his sister, Bertha P. Raymond of Watertown; and his brother, Steve and Mary Rose Patnode of Massena; and many nieces and nephews.
 
Ed was predeceased by an infant daughter, Beth Ann and three brothers, Russell, Bernard, and Vincent.
 
As per Ed’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.  Inurnment of his cremated remains will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Cornwall at the convenience of the family.
 
Memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
