Edwin R. VanVranken, 49, of RodmanRodman - Edwin R. VanVranken, 49, died Sunday afternoon at the Samaritan Medical Center. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Friday at the Rodman Community Church with Rev. David Swift officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Rodman. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Born November 26, 1962 in Watertown, son of Ralph Jr. and Faith Remington VanVranken, he graduated from South Jefferson Central School in 1980. Following graduation, he entered the US Army where he was stationed in Alaska from 1980-1981. Mr. VanVranken became a correction officer in 1987 and was currently employed at the Watertown Correctional Facility. He married Cynthia J. Rossman July 15, 1987 in Adams. The couple lived in Rodman all their married life. Surviving besides his wife, Cindy, are two sons, Jesse J. (Samantha) and Jacob R., both of Rodman; one stepson, Jonathan Burnham, Rodman; one step daughter, Lisa Davies and one step grandson, Michael Davies, both of Theresa;, his mother, Faith VanVranken, Adams; grandmother, Cecil Remington, Adams; one brother Donald L. VanVranken, Adams; one sister Bambi L. (Darrell) Cole, Adams; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father who died in 1981 and one sister Alicia Wasileski who died in 2007. Mr. VanVranken enjoyed filed training coon dogs and coon hunting and worked as a wildlife rehabilitator.
