Lorraine - Ellen E. Pooler, 89, of County Route 189,  died Friday morning at her home where she had been under the loving care of her family.

There will be no calling hours or funeral. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Rural Cemetery, Adams. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Donations are requested to be made to the family to offset Mrs. Pooler's many medical expenses.

She is survived by a daughter, Priscilla Freeman Pooler, Lorraine; one grandson Lowell Monty Groff and his companion Jennifer Brown, Tylerville; two grand daughters, Mandy Altieri, Lorraine; and Mitzi Freeman and her companion Brett Reckart, Buffalo.  She is also survived by a sister Edna Patton, Salisbury, England; and several nieces and nephews. 

Predeceasing her were three sisters, Rita Fulford, Ruby Kendall, Florence Biggs and a brother in infancy.

Mrs. Pooler was born September 30, 1923 in Chippenham, England daughter of William and Florence Hatherol Fulford. She attended school in Salisbury, England and met her husband to be while he was recuperating in an English hospital following his being wounded in the battle of St. Lo, France.  Ellen worked in a factory manufacturing airplane parts during WWII and on July 10, 1947 she sailed to the U.S..  On September 10, 1947 she married Lowell Pooler of Lorraine in the Lorraine Methodist Church. The couple lived in Lorraine all their married life and Mrs. Pooler has remained in the home since Mr. Pooler’s death September 10, 1980.

Mr.and Mrs. Pooler operated the Pooler Poultry Farm in Lorraine for several years.  In 1960 Mrs. Pooler worked for Art Joslyn Auctioneer, Ellisburg, and at the same time started her second hand shop at home selling antiques and collectibles which is still operated today by her daughter.

Mrs. Pooler had two pet Chihuahuas, Roxanne and Satch, to whom she was devoted.

She was a member of the Lorraine Methodist Church.
