Ellis “Neal” Sheets, 84, of Massena

Massena – Mr. Ellis “Neal” Sheets, 84, of 82 Woodlawn Ave, passed away early Wednesday morning at the St. Regis Nursing Home, where he had been a patient since December 26th.

Neal was born November 7, 1928 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William J. and Bertha Caldwell Sheets.  On September 8, 1948, he married Pauline V. McGuigan in Maryland.

Neal worked for General Motors for 36 ½ years retiring as a machine repairman.  He first came to Massena as the plant opened in 1959 and continued to work there until his retirement.  He was an active member of the Massena Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling having spent many years in Florida.  Neal also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid bowler having received many trophies.

Neal is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pauline; his son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Cheryl Sheets of Richmond, VA; 2 granddaughters, Morgan and Rae Mensess Sheets and their daughter, Lucy Josephine and Tia and Jeremy Brown and their daughter, Tegan Adell.  He is also survived by his sister, Lucille Adams of Lancaster, PA; two brothers, James and Vivian Sheets of Darlington, MD; Robert Sheets of Tennessee; and two sisters-in-law, Bertha Sheets of Conowingo, MD and Elizabeth Sheets of Massena; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and William Sheets and two sisters, Louise Davis and Edith Sheets in infancy.

Friends may call Friday 1-3 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where a prayer service will be held at 3:00 PM with Pastor Cliff Boice, officiating.  Friends may call Sunday 1-3 PM at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM. A graveside service will be held Monday 1:00 PM at the Conowingo Baptist Cemetery in Conowingo, MD.
