Elveria M. Martin, 79, of LowvilleLowville – Elveria M. Martin, 79, formerly of State Route 812, died Friday morning, November 30, 2012 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Apostolic Christian Church of America, Croghan, with Ministers of the Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Calling hours are from 3 - 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Contributions may be made to Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility Activities Fund, 7785 N. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367. She is survived by two children, Joyce A. and Dean Greenwood of Lowville; Timothy J. Martin of Lowville; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, Scott and Missy Greenwood and their children, Jaedyn and Brennan, of Lowville; Tonya Greenwood of Lowville; Heather and Jacob Huffman of North Carolina; Amber Greenwood of Carthage; 11 brothers and sisters, Rosemary and Edward Wagler of Lowville; Ralph and Carol Martin of Turin; Ezra and Wilma Martin of Castorland; Helen and Ron DeRouchie of Brownville; Mahlon and Sue Martin of Port Leyden; Gil and Sue Martin of Boonville; Doris and Joe Robbins of Denmark; Sharon and Andy Zehr of Castorland; Joan and Stanley Widrick of Croghan; Bruce and Sheryl Martin of Croghan; Richard and Kim Martin of Boonville; a brother-in-law, Gary Rivers, Sr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by two sisters, Clara Boliver and Geneva Rivers, and two brothers, Norbert Martin and Elmer Martin. Elveria was born on January 11, 1933 in Belfort, New York, a daughter of the late Vernon and Katherine Zehr Martin. She attended country school in Belfort. On September 10, 1955, she married Bernard J. Martin at the Croghan Conservative Mennonite Church. She raised her family, and together with her husband, were foster parents for over 20 foster children, over many years. Mr. Martin died April 13, 1996. She was a caregiver for the elderly for many years. She loved watching her grand kids and great- grand kids. Elveria loved to sing. Condolences may be made online at www.isenekerfuneralhome.com. |
