Graveside service for Floyd Vebber, 87, of Pierrepont, will be held at the convenience of the family.

Floyd died Saturday at home while under the care of family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Theresa; son James Vebber and wife Shelley and daughter Nancy Rutledge and husband James, all of Pierrepont; grandsons, Mark Vebber of Greenville, NC and Kevin Vebber of Farmville, NC; two great-granddaughters and a sister, Mavis Vaughan of Hannawa Falls.

Floyd is predeceased by brothers, Lee, Ray and Fay Vebber.

Floyd was born September 15, 1924 in Pierrepont, the son of the late, Wallace and Monica (Leonard) Vebber. He graduated from Colton School in 1942. From 1947-1954 he worked for the town of Pierrepont. 

He married Theresa O’Brien in 1952, went to work for Gaines-Sherman in 1954 and was a member of the Local 545 International Union of Operating Engineers since 1955. Floyd served in the US Army and Reserves from 1949-1955. From 1962-1968 he sold Bombardier and Skidoo snowmobiles.

Floyd was a past member of the Gulf Brook Hunting Club and was a member and caretaker for Weller Mountain Fish and Game Preserve. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling.
