Gary Steven Grant, 63, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013, peacefully at his home in Sackets Harbor, New York with his family and closest friends by his side.
Born February 5, 1950, in Watertown, the son of the late Jerry and Flora Mecomonaco Grant, he attended Holy Family School and graduated from Immaculate Heart Central in 1969.
Gary and his beloved wife Dawn Marie Booth Grant were married on October 30th 2004 in Watertown. His first marriage to the former Kathleen Bancroft ended in divorce in the 1980's.
Gary worked for many years at the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center in Watertown in direct care and later on as the manager for the recycling and redemption center. Gary also had a long time career as a Sales Representative for several local car dealerships. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a major New York Yankee fan. He also was an avid golfer and racquetball player. In the summer you could either find him in his boat on the lake or swinging a club on the golf course.
Also surviving him are his two daughters, Carrie Grant Edick and husband Ken, Watertown and Erica Grant Tolley and husband Ryan, Lake Mary, Florida, and his two Grandchildren KC and Jonah Edick . He is also survived by his brother Michael Grant and wife Elaine of Great Bend, Claudia Grant Paddock and husband Don, Chandler, AZ and Mary-Anne Grant Collins and husband John of Mt. Juliet, TN. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A brother Timothy J. Grant died before him in 2001.
A prayer service will be 10 am Wednesday, December 18th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, State St., followed by an 11 am Mass of the Resurrection at Holy Family Church, Winthrop St., with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 17th, from 4 pm - 8 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt love to all of his close friends who were right by his side as he took his journey home as well as Hospice of Jefferson County, Dr. John Poggi and Dr. Ryan Tyler.
