Gladys M. Bloodough, 99, formerly of Clayton and Adams CenterClayton - Gladys M. Bloodough, formerly of Clayton and Adams Center, passed away Thursday morning, May 17, 2012, at Mercy Center of NNY where she had resided since 2006. Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., 214 Sterling St., Watertown on Sunday, May 20, from 1 - 4PM. The funeral mass will be at St. Patrick's Church at 9:30AM on Monday, May 21, with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Bloodough was born in Watertown on November 24, 1912, daughter of Frederick N. and Kathleen F. Allen Wilder. She graduated from Watertown High School. On March 30, 1932 she married John W. Bloodough at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Peter A. Lesparence officiating. Mr. Bloodough, a bridge superintendent for NYS DOT, died August 3, 1969. With her sister-in-law, Lillian Wilder, she ran the popcorn stand on the northside of Public Square. She worked for Knotty Pine Diner, later Pine Diner, Adams Center and with her husband, she operated the Billiards Parlor, Adams. Gladys was a waitress and operated Stone's Dairy Bar, and then was a waitress for Victory Diner, Devito's Stand, and the Coffee Pot, all in Watertown. After living in Watertown and Adams Center, she moved to Clayton in 1975. She had been a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Clayton and a member of St. Anne's Altar & Society. She enjoyed her family, reading and gardening. She is survived by her foster daughter and her husband, Kathleen E. and Henry R. LaClair, Clayton; her grandson and his wife, Michael J. and Donna Casselman and their children, James A. Casselman and Haley Jacobs; her sister-in-law, Patricia A. Wilder, Watertown; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband, John, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Franklin D. Wilder, Jan. 14, 1931, Frederick M. Wilder, Feb. 24, 1997, and James A. Wilder, Oct. 11, 2001. Donations in her name may be made to either St. Mary's Church, 521 James St., or T. I. E. R. S., P. O. Box 524, both in Clayton, NY 13624. |
