Funeral services for Greg A. MacKinnon, 60, of County Rt # 40, Massena will be Tuesday ( July3 1,2012)  10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Scott Fobare presiding.

Greg died Saturday morning (July 28,2012) at the Massena Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Family and friends are invited to call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

Greg is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy, a son Tad and his wife Crystal of Massena, a daughter Tara and husband Randy Barcomb of New Castle, DE., grandchildren Gavin and Anika MacKinnon, brothers William and wife Miriam MacKinnon of Brasher Falls ,NY, Scott of Stone Mountain, GA. sisters Jan Cunningham  and companion John Burke of Norfolk, NY, Shelly and husband Bob Batten of Galveston, TX, Pam and husband Lauren Lewis of West Stockholm, Wendy and husband Donald Straight of Brasher Falls ,NY, many nieces and nephews.

Greg was born July 28, 1952 in Massena, the son of Clarke and Eunice (Gibbs) MacKinnon. Following his graduation from Massena Central High School he joined the US Navy where he proudly served his country for eight years from 1970 to 1978.

Greg was later hired at the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation as a linesman. Greg retired as Captain in 2008 after piloting the Robinson Bay tugboat for many years.

Greg married Judy Bourchard April 29, 1972 at St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Joseph Doud presiding. Greg enjoyed reading, traveling and playing golf at the Twin Brooks Golf course in Waddington. He enjoyed woodworking, doing many projects for his family.

He was a member of the American Legion Post # 79 and the VFW Post # 1143. They will hold a joint Memorial Service Monday evening at 7:15 pm at the funeral home.

At the family's request, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St .Lawrence Valley or the Massena Memorial Hospital Foundation.
