Grovene M. Dunaway, 87 of WatertownGrovene M. Dunaway, 87, Bridgeport, formerly of Gifford St. Rd., Watertown, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Watertown, on Friday, May 4, at 10:30 PM with Rev. Steven Murray officiating with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. Mrs. Dunaway was born in Watertown on September 19, 1924, daughter of Dewey W. and Eva L. Rigabar Champion. She graduated from both Augustinian Academy and the Watertown School of Commerce. She married Gordon Paul Dunaway and they were married for 42 years. Besides being a housewife, she also worked in the credit dept. at Empsall's Department Store, in payroll for Bagley & Sewell, now Black Clawson, in civil service on Ft. Drum, and as a clerk at Maxfield's. She was a former communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of its choir and Ladies of Charity. Mrs. Dunaway was a member of the Associate's at the Sisters of St. Joseph and and honorary member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed spending time at the Lake and with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening. She is survived by her three children, Diane M. Dunaway, Bridgeport, David P. Dunaway and wife, Ann, Dexter, NY and Dawn M. Quint and wife, Pamela, Andover, CT; two grandsons, Kristopher Dunaway and Gerard A. Lapointe, Jr.; and her great granddaughter, Gabriella Clark, In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations in her name to Holy Family Church, 129 Winthrop St., Watertown, NY 13601. |
