Carthage - Harry M. Canell, 63, of Madison Street, Carthage, formerly of Castorland, died on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Utica.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, with Rev. Joyce Miller, Pastor of Castorland Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the funeral home.

He is survived by two daughters, Trishia L. Canell of Adams Center and Jackie S. Canell of Glenfield; their mother, Deb Canell of Lowville; his companion, Cynthia Peebles of Carthage, and her daughter, Brooke Peebles; three grandchildren, Miranda B. Canell, Heather A. Yousey, and Zachary E. Waugh; a brother, Michael C. Canell of Central Square; a sister, Tami Canell-Lalone of Carthage; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Canell is predeceased by his parents, and a brother, William C. Canell, Jr.

Harry was born on November 30, 1949 in Carthage, NY, a son of the late William C. Canell, Sr. and the late Lorna J. Christman Canell.  He graduated from Carthage Central School in 1969, and moved to Castorland in 1978. Mr. Canell retired from Fibermark in Lowville on January 1, 2013, after more than 30 years of service.

Mr. Canell was a member of the Castorland Baptist Church in Castorland for the past 33 years. He has been a member of the Castorland Fire Department since 1979, and was a member of the Carthage American Legion Post #789 for the past 18 years. Harry enjoyed hunting and football, and was a diehard Denver Broncos and Oakland A’s fan. He loved rock ‘n roll music.
