AKWESASNE – Mrs. Hattie Thompson, 81, of 58 John Thompson Road, Cornwall Island, passed away early Thursday morning, March 29, 2012 at her home, where she was under the loving care of her family and Akwesasne Home Support.

Hattie was born May 31, 1930 in Cornwall, the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Bonspeil Thompson.    She was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family.

Hattie will be sadly missed by her six children, Ernie and Lynne Thompson of Akwesasne; Kevin and Suanne Thompson of Dewitt, Michigan; Alice and Ernie King of Akwesasne, Ontario; Cecilia and Jerry Cook of Hogansburg; Leona and Tom Thomas and Leonard and Janelle Thompson, all of Akwesasne, Ontario; 19 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Mitchell and Sarah Day, both of Akwesasne, Ontario; her brother-in-law, James and Esther Thompson of Akwesasne, Ontario; many nieces and nephews, and her loving caregivers with home support, especially Rosemary Seymour.

Hattie was predeceased by her husband, John P. Thompson on December 17, 1999; her sisters, Mary Seymour,Anna May Martin, Theresa David; and her brothers, Joseph R. and John Thompson.

Friends may call at her home, 58 John Thompson Road, Cornwall Island, beginning Sunday 4:00 PM until Tuesday 12:30 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 2:00 PM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, celebrating.  Burial will be later in the spring at Kateri Cemetery.
