Brantingham - Helen P. Valasky, 92, of Brantingham Road, died Thursday evening, July 25, 2013 at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, pastor of at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glenfield, officiating.

Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Brantingham Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the funeral home.

She is survived by three children, Helen “Chick” Krusper of Brantingham; William Valasky and his wife, Wendy of Jericho; Rose Valasky and her husband, Andy Byrnes of New Mexico; a son-in-law, Stan “Butch” Plato of Walden, NY; a sister, Virginia DeCarlo of Lowville; a brother, Joe Paragi of Whitesboro; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; many nieces nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Plato, who died in November 2001; a son-in-law, John Krusper, who died in June 2001; a sister Barbara Paragi and a brother, Gabriel Paragi.

Helen was born on September 20, 1920, at home in Brantingham, a daughter of the late Gabriel and Sophie Dragony Paragi. She graduated from General Martin High School.  Helen enlisted in the Women’s Air Corps, and served during World War II.

On April 2, 1948, she married William Valasky at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glenfield.  Mr. Valasky died March 16, 1960. Helen retired from the Brantingham Post Office, where she served as Postmaster for several years.

Helen was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glenfield.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, and gardening.
