Henry William "Billy" Lantry, 79, of Syracuse
Syracuse – Henry William "Billy" Lantry, 79, of Syracuse, NY passed away surrounded by his family late Sunday night (December 15, 2013) at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena Friday, December 20, from 4 to 7 p.m.
A Mass of Catholic burial will be held on Saturday December 21, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Brasher, NY with Rev. John Demo officiating.
Interment will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family.
Billy was the eldest son of the late Harry and Grace (Sullivan) Lantry. His early years were spent working on his family’s farm with his parents and 11 siblings. Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired as a carpenter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 747 with 50 years of dedicated service.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Declan Michael Lantry and two sisters, Lucille and Margaret Jane Lantry and two brothers, John and Robert Lantry.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (Donahue) Lantry; their three beloved children, Lucille (Joseph Murphy) of South Beloit, IL, Shawn (Nora) Lantry and Kevin (Kelly) Lantry both of Syracuse; his 10 cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Elise, Aaron, Brennan and Cameron Murphy, Colin, Ryan and Michael Lantry and Isabella and Liam Lantry.
He is survived by his four sisters, Mary T. Hammill of Rooseveltown, NY, Colleen and David Smith of Port St. Lucie, FL, Paula and Al Sawyer of New Port Ritchie, FL, Patricia O’Reilly of Rochester, NY and sister-in-law Jane (Robert) Lantry of Helena, NY.
Billy is survived by three brothers, Cornelius and Mary Lantry of Ontario, NY, Bernard Lantry of Helena, NY and Dennis and Tracy Lantry of Massena, NY. In addition he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Some of his greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events, music recitals and plays. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at the Saratoga Raceway with family and dear friends and going to South Bend, Indiana to attend Notre Dame football games each fall.
