Hilda R. Thompson, 89, Co. Rt. 5, where she resided with her granddaughter and caregiver, Hilda Westerdick, died May 1, 2014 at River Hospital, Alexandria Bay.

Born in Canada on August 24, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Adeline Jeffrey Timmerman.   She attended Dexter High School.

She married Gerald E. Thompson on May 1, 1944.  He died June 26, 1986.

Survivors include five children, a son Gerald Thompson and his wife Katherine of LaFargeville, a daughter Gail Satimore of LaFargeville,  a daughter Trudy Felt and her husband, Morris of Clayton, a son Vernon Thompson and his wife Deborah of LaFargeville, a son Jack Thompson and his wife Vicki of LaFargeville; a daughter in law, Barbara Thompson of LaFargeville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; a sister, Joy Mitchell and her husband, Burt of MA and Three Mile Bay;  a sister in law, Irene Timmerman of Limerick.

Hilda’s husband, Gerald, a son Terry Thompson, a daughter, Sandra Westerdick, a grandson, Vernon Thompson, three brothers, George Timmerman, Grenville Timmerman, and Pete Timmerman all died before her.

She enjoyed spending time on the family farm surrounded by her large family that she was very proud of.

There will be a celebration of her life at 11 am on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Thompson Family Farm.  Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc.
