Funeral services for 42-year old James Ezra Barney II, of Parishville, NY, will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Potsdam United Methodist Church with Rev. James Barnes and Rev. Tom Nichols Co-Pastoring.

Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home, in Potsdam on Wednesday, July 30th, from 1:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

A Masonic service will be held at Seymour Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 8:30 PM.

James died July 24, 2014 in Raybrook, NY from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, which also claimed the life of his wife Kimberly. Burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Dickenson, NY following the funeral service.

Survivors include his mother Mrs. Helen Barney, of Heuvelton, a son, Conor Barney of Lisbon; three daughters: Kathryn Barney of Lisbon, Kayla Bedore, Rebecca Colby, and Emily Colby all of Parishville; two brothers: Harold(Cindy) Covey of Oxford, NY, Terry (Trudy) Covey of Ogdensburg; two sisters: Sharon (John) LaShomb, of Lawrenceville, and Wanda Garrish, living in Oklahoma; his mother- and father-in-law, Timothy and Charlene Randall of Parishville, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James was predeceased by his father, James E. Barney, and his grandparents Stephen and Mary Barney, former residents of North Bangor; and Harold and Dorothy Hazen, former residents of Moira.

Mr. Barney was born August 7, 1971 in Ogdensburg, NY the son of James E. and Helen Barney. He graduated from Lisbon Central School in 1990, and received his degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Canton College. He married Myrna Layng May 13, 1995, with the marriage ending in divorce.

On August 1, 2010 James married Kimberly Randall Colby on top of Whiteface Mountain, on a beautiful summer's day surrounded by family, friends, and God’s Dragonflies.

Mr. Barney worked as a police officer for the Norwood Police Department and later was a Corrections Officer, holding the rank of Sergeant at the Bear Hill Facility in Malone, NY.

He was a Past Master of Van Heuvel Lodge #941 and a member of the Depeyster #573 Masonic Lodge, The Valley of Norwood Scottish Rite, and the Consistory in Syracuse, all Masonic organizations. Mr. Barney was a charter member and founding President of the St. Lawrence Wart Hogs Motorcycle Club.

Spending time with his family and friends was his greatest enjoyment in life. He enjoyed woodworking, and completed many projects. Jim was also an avid hunter, and outdoorsman. Riding his motorcycle with his wife Kim was a favorite pastime.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Funeral services for 38- year old Kimberly A. Barney, of Parishville, NY, will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Potsdam United Methodist Church with Rev. James Barnes and Rev. Tom Nichols co-Pastoring.

Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickenson, NY.  Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home, in Potsdam on Wednesday, July 30, from 1:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Kimberly died July 24, 2014 at Fletcher-Allen Medical Center, in Burlington, VT from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, which also claimed the life of her husband James E. Barney, II.

Survivors include her parents, Timothy and Charlene Randall of Parishville; a step-son, Conor Barney of Lisbon, a step-daughter Kathryn Barney of Lisbon, three daughters:  Kayla Bedore, Rebecca Colby, and Emily Colby of Parishville; two brothers: Elmer Randall of Hopkinton, and Brian Boyce serving in the U. S. Navy, and several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces, and cousins.

Kimberly was born in Massena, NY September 18, 1975 the daughter of Timothy and Charlene (Murphy) Randall.  She graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School. She received an Associates Degree from SUNY Canton College. Kim began her working career at General Motors in Massena, and later became employed at the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services in Canton.

She married James E. Barney II, on August 1, 2010 on the top of Whiteface Mountain on a beautiful summer’s day surrounded by family, friends, and God’s Dragonflies.

Time spent with family was Kimberly’s favorite pastime.
