The funeral service for James C. Stiles, 82, of DeKalb, will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Christian Family Tabernacle, Kendrew Corners, with Pastor Andy Reese of the Parishville Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery.

James died on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital while surrounded by his family.

Friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton, on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

James is survived by five sons, Howard “Howie” Stiles and companion Dawn Randall of Edwards, Ricky Stiles and wife Vicky of DeKalb, Steven “Chip” Stiles and wife Martha of Rensselaer Falls, David “Duffer” Stiles and wife Angela of DeKalb and Todd Stiles of DeKalb; two daughters, Julie Rexford and husband Walter of Canton and Jamie Friot and husband Dick of DeKalb.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Keith Stiles and wife Norma of Rensselaer Falls; Harry Stiles Jr. of Rensselaer Falls and Paul Stiles and wife Betty of Carthage.

James is predeceased by sisters Shirley Dusharm, Geraldine Mandigo, Esther Funk, infant twin sisters Ruth and Naomi Stiles and by brothers Everett, John and Gerald Stiles.

James was born August 25, 1930 in Macomb, the son of the late Harry Sr. and Gladys (Clark) Stiles. He attended Heuvelton Schools and joined the US ARMY at the age of 17.

On January 10, 1956 he married Claricy Bishop at the Heuvelton United Methodist Church; Claricy predeceased him on March 29, 2012. James was the owner of Stiles Used Auto Parts, DeKalb.

James enjoyed spending time with his family; especially following his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed watching Syracuse Basketball, was an avid NY Giants fan, and loved to bowl. James was a member of the DeKalb Amvets, the American Quarter Horse Assoc. and the Parishville Baptist Church.
