Mr. James E. Dano, age 72, of Allen Road in Watertown, died Saturday at Rome Memorial Hospital.

Calling hours will be Saturday, April 13, from 1-4pm at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton, with the funeral to follow at 4pm.

Jim was born July 22, 1940, in Clayton, the son of Ellsworth and Thelma Docteur Dano. He graduated from Cape Vincent High School and Jefferson Community College.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1960.

On July 22, 1962, he married the former Adelaid Kalk at the Clayton Methodist Church.

Jim worked for a time for the United States Army Map Service as a map drawer. He also volunteered as an ambulance driver and EMT at Dexter Volunteer Fire Department, where he was also a member.

He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and doing crafts.

Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Steven and Ronald of Watertown, Michael (Colleen) of Depauville, Edward of Missouri and James (Susan) of Middletown, NY; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his mother Thelma of Clayton; four sisters, Darlene Barbrow of Theresa, Marla Piper of Jamestown, Billie of Florida and Sue (Joe) Shaw of Syracuse; one sister-in-law Sandra Dano of Clayton; nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Wayne and Nelson, died before him.
