Jean W. Sullivan Hayes, 78, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on Christmas Eve 2013 in Hospice Care at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday December 30 in Ogdensburg, NY, with Rev. James Shurtleff of Notre Dame Church, officiating.

Burial will be scheduled in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Norwood, weather permitting.

Arrangements are by Frary Funeral Home, where calling hours will be Sunday, December 29 2 to 6 PM.

Jean was born in Norwood, NY to Michael and Anna Sullivan on December 30, 1934. She graduated from Indian River Central School in Philadelphia.

She married Paul N. Hayes on January 16, 1960 at St. John the Evangelist in Morristown, NY where she remained a member until relocating and becoming a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Madrid NY. She, along with her husband, owned a farm in Morristown NY for many years.

Jean was an avid Yankees fan and a loyal supporter of both the VFW and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Jean received honors, raising over $25,000 for the Edward I. Moses Walk Run for Life from 1988 to 2013 and was recently awarded a plaque for 40 years of service by the Morristown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg NY for the past several years and regularly attended St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Anna, brothers Joseph and John and twin sister Veronica.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Debra Hayes of Cape Coral FL, Cynthia Measheau and her husband Earl of Gouverneur NY and  Colleen Fletcher and her husband Matthew of Naples FL and sons Daniel Hayes and wife Robin of Orlando FL, and Timothy, David, Andrew and John Hayes all of Naples FL. She is survived by two brothers, Donald Sullivan of Morristown NY and Gary Sullivan of Lake Hopatcong NJ.

Jean lives on in her loving grandchildren, Paul Marlow, Patrick Hayes, Larry Hayes, Jessie Hayes, Andrew Earlywine, Johnny Earlywine and wife Jayme, LCpl Earlywine, Dustin K. (USMC), Joshua Earlywine, Cheyenne Earlywine, Ajani Gibson, Logan Fletcher, Lauren Fletcher, 1LT Hayes, Alison M. D. (USA), Mathew Hayes and her one great-grandson Benjamin Earlywine.

Jean is survived by her nephew Michael and her niece Kerrie Sullivan Gumaer and her husband Whitey and grand nieces Samantha, Jessica and grand nephew Junior.

Donations may be given in honor of Jean Hayes to Edward I Moses Walk Run for Life or Morristown Fire Departments Ladies Auxiliary.
