Joseph A. Marra, 88 of Watertown
Joseph A. Marra, 88, 160 Bellew Avenue, died April 6, 2013, at Samaritan Medical Center. Mr. Marra was born December 14, 1924 in Watertown next door to his current home, the son of Phillipo and Angelina Pecori Marra. He attended Watertown High School. Mr. Marra married Betty Snyder November 18, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Church with Reverend Coffey officiating. He was co-owner of Johnny’s Fruit Company with his brother John and later his cousin Phil, retiring at age seventy two. Previously, Mr. Marra was the manager of the Black River Bowling Alley and Knights of Columbus Bowling Alley. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church for his entire life. He was also a member of the Italian American Civic Association and a third degree Knight of Columbus. He was an avid gardener and top bowler at Play-more Bowling Alley. Surviving besides his wife is a son and his wife Joseph P. and Lisa M. of Ashville, NC, a sister and her husband Mary and Ken Parker, Watertown, several nieces and nephews. Three brothers John, Anthony and Frank and three sister’s Frances Pietroski, Rose Morgia and Angie Fletcher died before him. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-6 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral service at St. Anthony’s Church with Reverend Donald Robinson.
