Louisville - Joseph E. Brady, 74 of Kingsley R. Louisville, NY died Saturday evening (December 1, 2012) at his home, surrounded by his family.
Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 12:00 pm at the Church of the Sacred Heart, with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville.
Joe was born in Louisville the son of Earl T. and Florence (Regan) Brady. He attended local schools.
He married Rose Regis February 27, 1960 at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam with Rev. James Ruddy, cousin of the groom presiding. Joe had many accomplishments but his most important one was he was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa.
Joe retired from GM Powertrain after 30 years of dedicated service. He was then employed by the Solid Waste Disposal Authority. Joe was a successful businessman operating a gas station on Willow Street, Massena and Vertical Blinds of Northern NY.
Joe was a founding member of the Louisville Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Louisville Town Supervisor for 14 years and was instrumental in the building of the Louisville Community Center and the Senior Citizens Housing complex.
Joe and Rosie loved to travel, spending many happy winters in Florida and summers on the St. Lawrence River. As a couple they made many friends along their travels.
Surviving Joe is his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Rosie, children James (Tammy) of Fredericksburg, VA, Cindy LaVean of White Plains, NY, Lori (Joseph) Zych of Fulton, NY, grandchildren, Andrew, Jeffrey, Lindsey, Kevin, Abbey, Shannon and Brady, great grandchildren, Emma and Blaine.
Joe is also survived by his sister, Eleanor (Merlon) Baxter of Massena, a brother Jay (Ruth) Brady of Waddington, NY and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all of them.
Joe was a member of the Massena Elks Lodge B.P.O.E # 1702, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels program and the D.A.V.
