Josephine V. Messina, 83 of WatertownJosephine V. Messina, 83, formerly of 151 Palmer St., Watertown, passed March 1, 2013 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had been a resident. A funeral mass will be said 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. A prayer service will precede the mass 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 4 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. Born on January 17, 1930 in Watertown, daughter of the late Antonia and Mary DiLiberto Messina, she attended Watertown schools. She worked at Olga Knitting Mill for many years and for Samaritan Keep Nursing Home in the dietary department, retiring in the early 1980’s. She was a member of the St. Anthony’s Church, Alter & Rosary Society and the Samaritan Loyal‘s. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, cooking and baking Italian cookies. Among her survivors are 19 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Three brother, Samuel, Paul and Frank Messina and two sisters, Elizabeth DiStefano and Carmella “Millie” Carlo all died before her.
