Kenneth Joseph Boots, 58, of AkwesasneMr. Kenneth Joseph Boots, 58, of 117 Frogtown Road, peacefully passed away on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2013 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He had been ill for the past six months. Kenneth was born May 4, 1954 in Syracuse, the son of Jonas and Pauline White Boots. He attended schools on Cornwall Island, Central Public School and graduated from St. Lawrence High School in Cornwall, Ontario. On May 30, 1996, he married Regina Garrow. Until his illness, Kenneth worked for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe as a carpenter under the HIP Program. He was also a member of the Ironworkers Local 711 of Montreal. As an ironworker, he worked for many years in Edmonton, Alberta and in various states including New Jersey and New Hampshire to name a few. Kenneth loved watching NASCAR and going to the Frogtown Speedway. He also enjoyed fishing even though his wife always caught more fish that he did. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and family. He loved the outdoors and hanging out with his carpentry and maintenance crew at the Tribe. He had a loved for music and in his earlier years played in the Young Mohawks Band, where he was the drummer with Andy and Johnny Square and Gary and Wayne Stehlin. Kenneth also had a love for cats with Daisy being his favorite. He is survived by his beloved wife, Regina; his daughter, Morgan Boots at home; his mother, Pauline Boots of Cornwall Island; five brothers, Kevin and Ronnie Boots of Cornwall Island; Wayne and Karen Boots also of Cornwall Island; Robert Boots of Rooseveltown; Peter and Cindy Boots of Cornwall; five sisters, Sandra Boots of Cornwall Island; Cecelia and Michael Guay of Summerstown; Belva and Dan Garrow; Darlene and Peter Adams, all of Snye; and Patricia Boots and her companion Jackie Smith of Hogansburg. In addition, Kenneth is survived by two uncles, Phillip “Sonny†Boots of Cornwall Island and Teddy Thompson of Snye; an aunt, Charmaine Boots of Onondaga; his godson, Ian Boots of Akwesasne; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Jonas Boots on October 17, 1996; two brothers and a sister in infancy; his paternal grandparents, Peter Boots and Elizabeth Sawatis; his maternal grandparents, John White and Anna Papineau; and his godparents, Louie White and Mary Benedict. Friends may call at his home, 117 Frogtown Road, beginning Thursday 4:00 PM until 10:00 AM Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 AM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores, officiating. Cremation will follow.
