King Thomas Wilcox, 70, of Parishville


Calling hours for 70-year old Mr. King Thomas Wilcox of Parishville will be held Wednesday, January 16 at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam from 2:00 to 5:00 PM with a reception for friends and family to follow at 6:00 PM at the Parishville Volunteer Firemen’s Hall.

A spring committal will be at the family’s convenience at the Fairview Cemetery in Parishville.

Mr. Wilcox died at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, NY on January 13, 2013.

Survivors include his companion Lois Sochia of Parishville, three sons: Eric Wilcox and his wife Marcy of Hannawa Falls, Kevin Wilcox and his companion Sue Yenoli of Parishville, King Wilcox II of Wareham, MA; a daughter Mrs. Anthony (Anne) Gilbert of Parishville; a brother Malcolm and his wife Carol Wilcox of Melbourne, FL; six grandchildren: Amanda Gilbert of Parishville, Natalie (Gilbert) Wendig and her husband Matthew Wendig of Copenhagen, NY, Nicholas Gilbert of Parishville, Mitch Wilcox of Boston, MA, Blake Wilcox of Parishville, and Landon Wilcox of Hannawa Falls; a niece, Laura (Wilcox) and her husband John Rokoszak of NJ, and a nephew, Raymond Wilcox of CA.

King was born in Teaneck, NJ on July 29, 1942 the son of Malcolm and Anne (Sullivan) Wilcox. He attended Parishville Central School. He served a brief time in the US Navy prior to his employment at SUNY Potsdam College where he retired as Maintenance Dept. Supervisor after 35 years employment.

King was a past Chief of the Parishville Vol. Fire Dept. serving two terms as well as a St. Lawrence County Fire Commission two term chief. He was active in the Parishville Vol. Rescue Squad and Dive Team, and served as Director of the Recreation Program for the Town of Parishville. He was instrumental in the development of the Town Park and the ice arena.

King was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He enjoyed woodworking, stained glass work, traveling, carpentry, and visiting with family, friends and anyone he met.

Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
