Lorin Earl Hicks, LeRay Street, passed away Saturday, February 8 at his residence under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County. He was 93 years old.

There is no funeral or calling hours. Spring burial will be held at North Watertown Cemetery in the spring. There will be a celebration of his life at Legion Post 61, where he was a lifetime member, after spring burial.

Born in Dayton, Ohio on January 22, 1921, he was a son to Floyd and Rebecca Hicks. After receiving his high school diploma he entered the United States Army, where he was a front line medic in World War II. He was honorably discharged with a bronze medal.

Upon returning, he was a apprentice brick layer at the "Mercy Hospital." Following there he worked at Knowlton Brothers. His final working days were at St. Regis paper mill, where he retired after 31 years.

He married Dorothy Parody in 1942. Their marriage ended in divorce. His companion of over 30 years was the late Marvel Johnston, who passed in 2013.

He was a lifetime member of Rustic golf course where he was a avid golfer. He also enjoyed bowling and dancing.

Surviving are a daughter, LouEllen Hicks, Watertown; a brother, Roderick Hicks; two grandchildren, Ashley and Melissa; four great-grandchildren.

Lorin was predeceased by a son, Berry Michael, a brother, Ronald, and a sister, Mary Ellen.
